Terms of Service for OkCupid Dating
These terms set out what you can expect from OkCupid Dating and what we expect from you. Reading them takes a few minutes and saves misunderstandings later.

Agreement
By opening an account or using OkCupid Dating in any way you enter into a binding agreement with us on the terms set out below.
Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old and legally able to enter into contracts in your country of residence.
Nature of the service
OkCupid Dating provides conversation with digital companions. Every companion is a fictional character generated by software and is not a real person.
No real-world relationships
Nothing in a chat creates any obligation, promise or relationship outside the service, and no companion can meet, call or visit you.
Creating an account
You must provide accurate registration details and keep them current. One person may hold one account unless we agree otherwise in writing.
Account security
You are responsible for your password and for everything done through your account. Tell us immediately if you suspect unauthorised access.
Free tier
The free tier includes a daily message allowance and may change in size or features at our discretion.
Paid subscriptions
Paid plans unlock unlimited messaging and additional features. Prices are shown before you confirm and include applicable taxes where required.
Billing cycle
Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period using your saved payment method until you cancel.
Cancellation
You may cancel at any time from account settings. Access continues to the end of the paid period and no further charge is taken.
Refunds
Except where local law requires otherwise, payments already taken are non-refundable. We review genuine billing errors case by case.
Price changes
We may adjust prices with at least thirty days' notice. Continuing your subscription after the notice period counts as acceptance.
Failed payments
If a payment fails we may retry it and may suspend premium features until the balance is settled.
Acceptable use
Use OkCupid Dating for personal, lawful, non-commercial conversation only.
Prohibited content
You must not submit content involving minors, non-consensual acts, violence, terrorism, trafficking, illegal goods or anything unlawful in your jurisdiction.
Impersonation
Do not attempt to model a companion on a real identifiable person without their consent, including public figures.
Technical abuse
Scraping, reverse engineering, automated access, load testing and attempts to bypass limits or security controls are prohibited.
Interference
Do not disrupt the service, other members' access, or the infrastructure that runs OkCupid Dating.
Content moderation
We may review, restrict or remove content that breaches these terms, and may apply automated filters to conversations.
Your content licence
You keep ownership of what you write. You grant us a limited licence to store and process it purely to operate the service for you.
Our intellectual property
The OkCupid Dating name, design, code, artwork and companion characters remain our property and may not be reused without permission.
Generated output
Companion replies are produced automatically and may be inaccurate, inconsistent or unsuitable. Do not rely on them as advice of any kind.
No professional advice
The service does not provide medical, psychological, legal or financial advice, and it is not a crisis or emergency resource.
Wellbeing
If conversation here begins to displace the relationships and support in your life, please step back and speak to a qualified professional.
Availability
We aim for continuous availability but do not guarantee it. Maintenance, updates and incidents may interrupt access without notice.
Changes to features
Features, companions and limits may be added, altered or withdrawn as the service develops.
Third-party services
Payment, hosting and delivery partners operate under their own terms, and we are not responsible for their independent conduct.
Disclaimer of warranties
The service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis without warranties of any kind to the fullest extent permitted by law.
Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose.
Indemnity
You agree to cover losses we suffer as a result of your breach of these terms or your unlawful use of the service.
Suspension and termination
We may suspend or close accounts that breach these terms, with notice where reasonably possible and immediately where harm is likely.
Effect of termination
On termination your access ends, unused paid time is forfeited except where law says otherwise, and stored content is deleted under our retention schedule.
Privacy
Our handling of personal information is described in the OkCupid Dating Privacy Policy, which forms part of this agreement.
Changes to these terms
Updated terms are published on this page with a new date, and continued use after publication means you accept them.
Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws applicable at our place of establishment, and we ask that you contact support before starting formal proceedings.
